About Bishop Grove Wines
The boutique family wine business known as Bishop Grove Wines is located near Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley Wine Region. It is a small winery whose output is about two thousand cases of premium wine a year. They hand pick their grapes and turn them lovingly into Chardonnay, Rose, Shiraz, Verdelho, Verdelho Chardonnay and Sparkling Shiraz.
They also practice eco-friendly growing techniques, whereby the vines are thinned out and only minimum amount of water is used. It is their mission statement to 'grow and use only the highest quality grapes to produce award winning wines.'
Harry Wells planted Bishop Grove Vineyard with Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Shiraz grapes in 1990, vines that are very much in demand by many winemakers in the Hunter. The baton was passed to his daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Peter Parkinson, who now produce wines under the Bishop Grove label.
Chris Hirst then took over the reins of Bishop Grove in 2004 and is determined to uphold the traditions of fine wines and great hospitality for which the Hunter Valley is famous.
Bishop Grove Wines have a much deserved reputation for producing high quality wines and have been rewarded with success at countless top class wine shows, where most of their entries took out awards.
Theirs is a niche market and they pride themselves on their exclusivity. Their wines are not accessible through bottle shops and thus they retain their uniqueness among their competitors throughout Australia.
Wine lovers can become Bishop Grove Cellar Family members where they will be able to enjoy the delights of Bishop Grove without having to leave home. They will also receive a 20% discount on all wine purchases, wine delivered to their door three times a year, invitations to premier wine tasting events at the vineyard to sample new wine varieties and free freight delivery throughout December.
