About Constable Estate Vineyards
Constable Estate Vineyards, situated at Pokolbin, right in the bosom of the Lower Hunter Valley, is a small boutique family concern which produces around 3000 cases a year of premium red and white wines.
This small vineyard is perhaps one of Australia’s most beautiful winery estates; it is also one the most successful. From the award winning wines, to the delightful flower gardens, the sculpture garden and the stunning views of the Brokenback Ranges it smacks of quality and elegance from beginning to end.
The seven hectares of a total of fifteen hectares of the vineyard are planted to Chardonnay, Semillon, Shiraz and Verdelho, all classic Hunter Valley grape varieties.
The wines they produce from these magnificent grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Semillon, Shiraz and Verdelho and are of a very high quality. They are all on offer at the Cellar Door, selected restaurants in the Hunter Valley, Central Coast, Newcastle and all around Sydney, and through their exclusive Wine Club.
The huge task of establishing the gardens, both flower and sculpture, was begun in 1984 and, when finished, included the Rose Garden, the Sculpture Garden, a gazebo and a pergola covered with climbing roses.
The triangular-shaped rose garden sits in a frame of Plane trees and Cotoneasters. There are three box gardens which were made with 780 Buxus Microphylla Japonica and house Lavender Spica and rose bushes. A cast-iron fountain and an antique sculpture grace the central block.
The whole ambience of Constable Estate Vineyards speaks of serenity and elegance. Put those things together with their wines of such great distinction and you have the perfect setting for wine lovers to enjoy their favourite drop of nectar in surroundings that just cannot be bettered.
