About De Iuliis Vineyards

De Iuliis Wines, at Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, sits amidst the beauty of the Brokenback mountain range and is one of the friendliest vineyards in the whole Valley.

The Cellar Door is filled with natural light and displays great artworks on its walls and panoramic windows that look out over landscaped gardens, set among mallee eucalypts and spotted gums. The staff will welcome you and will gladly answer all your wine-related questions. You can relax in modern comfort as you taste the wines, or have lunch at the Cracked Pepper Restaurant, or browse original art by Australian artists in the Butterflies Gallery, or wander up to the observation tower to enjoy the grand view.

The Lovedale Road region of the Hunter Valley, where De Iuliis Wines sits, is famous throughout the world for producing wines of outstanding quality and depth. It was for this reason that the site was chosen in 1987, with the hope that the tradition of this great Hunter Valley region would be upheld. It took three years to prepare the soil and then they planted the first vines in 1990. They need not have feared – their hopes were very soon realised and the wines they have since produced have won many prestigious awards at the Hunter Valley Wine Shows.

The winemaker, Michael De Iuliis, has set a goal to produce annually 10,000 dozen bottles of classic Hunter Valley wine, including: Chardonnay, Semillon, Shiraz, Verdelho and their ‘flagship’ product Merlot. He aims to ‘produce a distinctive "individual paddock" wine that can relate any wine precisely to its area of origin.’

They use state-of-the-art facilities at De Iuliis Wines to ensure precise control over all the winemaking processes. These modern practices are also ‘eco friendly’ and reflect the philosophy of the family: that of making wonderful wines, maintaining tradition and caring for the land.
