About Melville Hill Estate

Melville Hill Estate is located on the New England Highway, Tamworth, New South Wales. They are producers of award-winning wines of great character, style and taste.

They go to great lengths to care for the vines in the viticultural processes, as they know that great wine only comes from great fruit. From the pruning to the picking they aim for minimal handling and intervention. By doing so they allow the fruit to develop the regional characteristics and complexities they so desire in their wines.

There are two properties to the family-owned Melville Hill Estate, in the New England Region. They were chosen specifically for their brown clay soils, which is a feature of the Cockburn River.

John Almond is their winemaker and is one of the veterans of the industry in New South Wales, with 35 years of experience in winemaking. He is very much respected and indeed was a part of the team that produced the first Australian wine to win international awards in the London Wine Show and the Californian Wine Show, among many others.

John has overseen the making of the wines that have won numerous medals and awards over the years and there is every reason to believe that this successful trend will continue well into the future.

They also have the Melville Hill Estate Wine Club, where members receive many benefits, including very reasonable prices for their superb wines. Members also are given an individually numbered key ring; a bi-monthly newsletter/email with the latest news and specials that they can receive via mail, email or both; 13 to the dozen wine of the month special; a monthly member’s draw- if the member’s key ring number is drawn, they receive 1 dozen free wines (excluding the Reserve Shiraz) with any other dozen purchased. There are many other benefits, too.
