About Underwood Lane, The Winery
The Underwood Lane Winery is located on Underwood Road, Orange, New South Wales. They are producers of excellent wines and love making new wine friends. They will even show visitors around and let them see the wine making; perhaps they will even let you join in.
They use traditional viticultural methods in their winemaking. The wines are all made from their own fruit, which is harvested at its peak. The specially selected fruit from Orange is hand crafted with the greatest care and turned into superb wines.
Don MacLennan is their winemaker and he brings all his skills to bear in the making of the Underwood Lane wines. He uses cold fermentation techniques to bring out the intense flavours of the wines.
Their reds are excellent and full of rich flavours, without being weighed down with too much oak. Their whites are extra-special. They are crisp and fresh, with vibrant taste and a clean palate.
The vineyard is just ten minutes away from the city of Orange, off the Escort Way. It is a place where fun is near the top of their list in priority. There are wonderful views and the estate is surrounded by orchards and vineyards. The staff is always happy to answer all your wine-related questions and will show you around the vineyard and winery. Anything you wish to know about winemaking and grape growing will be answered by the enthusiastic winemakers on the site.
The more serious wine making members of the public can join ‘The Hands on Making Experience’ and can make their own wine. Groups can make bookings, which are essential, to set this up. The staff will guide you through all the stages of the hands-on wine making experience. They will assist you in making decisions as to which style of wine you want to make. To top it all off, you get to keep the wine!
Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz are available at their Cellar Door.
