About Toorak Wines

Toorak Wines is located at Farm 279 Toorak Road, Leeton. This fifty-acre property in the heart of the Riverina was once a farm and orchard, with peaches, apricots, and oranges being the main crops.

In the 1950s, Frank Bruno Senior emigrated from post-war Italy and worked on the property. He worked so hard, like Mr Schick, he bought the company, or this case, the farm, and turned it into a thriving vineyard.

It was in 1962 that Frank Bruno Sr. planted the first grapes on the fifty-acre family farm and soon his two sons, Vince and Frank Junior, caught the wine bug and they, too, became involved in the business.

Now, more than forty years on, the great wines at Toorak are enjoyed all over the world. The area is known for its warm summers and mild winters, which produce wines that are rich with ripe aromas and display intense varietal fruit characteristics.

By 1965, they were making their wine and selling it as their first commercial enterprise. From very small beginnings, the family-owned- and-operated winery grew from a modest production of thirty tonnes a year to what has become 5000 tonnes a year today. A spectacular growth in anyone’s language. They now supply both the Australian markets and the international ones, too, with their premium wines.

And now the next generation of winemakers have joined the business: Frank and Vince’s children have taken the vineyard to new and exciting heights.

Robert Bruno, Frank Senior's grandson, is the winemaker, whose studies of oenology have made him the leading light of the family, utilising his knowledge and combining it with the forty-odd years of experience from the oldies.

He has learned at the feet of some great winemakers in such great wine regions as France and Australia's Barossa Valley, the Hunter Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Central Victoria.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Colombard, Grenache, Merlot, Muscat Gordo Blanco, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz and Traminer are all available at their Cellar Door.
