About Joadja Vineyards & Winery
Joadja Vineyards and Winery is the first vineyard to be planted in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. It lies at an altitude of 730 metres above sea level and enjoys cool nights and warm days. With a long autumn, the grapes ripen slowly and develop flavours that are intense and fresh, with regional character and complexity.
The soils are of a volcanic nature, rich in nutrients. Together with the cool climate, these are conditions which are just right for the growing of excellent fruit. The varieties planted are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and a new Pinot Gris.
The main goal at Joadja Vineyards and Winery is to produce wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the region, and which capture the fresh fruit flavours of their grapes. With the gifts that Nature has provided, they feel that it is their happy task to harness these wonderful gifts and make the best possible wine they can.
Visitors are welcome to Joadja to wander around and enjoy the 'self-guided winery tour ' with the information cards that they have provided. You just might find them bottling the wine, or, during March to May, they might rope you in to help with the crushing!
Kim and Frances Moginie are the proprietors of Joadja Vineyards. Kim is the winemaker and has over twenty years of experience in the game. He also has a great deal of knowledge in wine retailing and knows what to develop with regard to the distinctive characters for the wines of this region.
Frances, who is an occupational therapist by profession, is the licensee of Joadja Winery and has a keen interest, not only in the vineyard, but also in art. In fact, her water colours were used as the basis for their unique labels.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc are available at their Cellar Door.
