About Mountview Wines

Set amongst the pine trees of Glen Aplin is red cedar barn winery of Mountview Wines.  Established in 1921, it stands on the original site of the Mountview vineyards and offers commanding and spectacular views of the local countryside.

A visit to Mountview Wines offers an authentic winery experience as visitors find themselves immersed in an atmosphere of winemaking equipment and old oak barrels.

New owner, David McGrath is an ardent supporter of the local community.  “It’s important, “ he said, “to give back to a community that supports you.”  To this end, the premises of Mountview are made available to a range of people, including local community groups to hold their AGMs or social gatherings and also local artists.

Another example of this community support was when Mountview teamed up with Stanthorpe Jockey Club in order to raise funds for RACQ Care Flight, a 24 hour medical and rescue helicopter service that covers southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

The winery has won several awards for their wines, the most recent being the Bronze Medal for their Cabernet Sauvignon Class 43, 2005 vintage at Australian Small Wine Makers Show.

Much of the produce of Mountview depletes quickly due to the fact it is sold direct at the winery where the grapes are crushed, wooded, bottled and stored.  All orders are visually inspected in order to ensure the quantity and quality of the stock is available for the completion of any transaction.

There wines include: Bloody Good Red 2005, Cerise, Sparkling Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon 2003, Merlot 2004, Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Clean Skin, Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Emu Swamp White, Sparkling White, Chardello 2005 and Chocolate Port.
