About Bridgeman Downs Cellars

Bridgeman Downs Cellars is located on Waterview Drive, Moffatdale, Queensland. It lies in the centre of Queensland’s largest wine growing region, South Burnett, which is a flourishing, fast-expanding wine growing centre.

The vineyard overlooks the beautiful Lake Barambah and has wonderful views of the surrounding area. Visitors can relax at their Cellar Door, sipping their wonderful wines and tasting the local cheeses, while looking out over the silent waters.

The vineyard was established by the Brydges family in 1996 and is owned and operated by them. It is a boutique vineyard and features a colonial-style homestead, sweeping lawns, delightful gardens an antique barn and stables and a Cellar Door.

The vineyard runs to ten-acres and produces superb quality wines, which are second-to-none in the whole of Queensland. The classic varieties they grow include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Verdelho.

Jan Brydges was a local identity in the real estate industry, but upped stumps with her son to set up a bed and breakfast establishment and raise her child in peace and security. But life’s plans rarely work out according to the script. She fell in love with the property and spent countless hours cleaning up the place. Over the next few years, she transformed the erstwhile derelict paddock and its crumbling buildings into the delightful estate it is today.

The estate is located about two-and-a-half hours northwest of Brisbane, two hours from the Sunshine Coast. Bridgeman Downs Cellars is a wonderful to area visit, with many places of interest within the local region.

Jan and her son, Luke, have turned this vineyard into one of the great winemaking establishments in Queensland. Luke discovered his love of the profession though his mother and completed a science degree at the University of Queensland in 1997 and a Bachelor of Applied Science at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. He now runs the vineyard.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Verdelho are all available at their Cellar Door.
