About Amulet Vineyard

Amulet Vineyard is located on Wangaratta Road, Beechworth, Victoria. They are producers of very good wines at reasonable prices.

They have a wonderful range of wines at this family-owned vineyard, which are marketed under two wine labels. Catherine O'Neill, a very creative graphic artist, designed the ‘Scarecrow’ label for the 2000 vintage. The image of the scarecrow flying high on a bike is unforgettable. This range of wines sells for around $20 per bottle, which is great value for money. They produced this range as ‘bistro-style’ wines and they are easy drinking.

Their ‘Wood Duck’ label range are the reserve premium wines and are superb. They reflect all the careful work and energy that goes into the making of them. They also reflect the exceptional qualities and subtleties of the region.

For the reserve wines, they use indigenous yeasts and malolactic bacteria in the fermentation process, which produces wines of very high standards. They also use oak and long periods in the barrel and the bottle to age the wines to perfection.

Amulet Vineyard has 12 acres planted to vine on sweeping slopes and decomposed granitic soils, at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level. They use the barest minimum herbicide and foliage spraying, but do not use any pesticides at all. Watering comes from their dams, via a drip irrigation system. The yield they aim for is around three tonnes per acre and is completely hand-picked.

They have a policy of minimum intervention at Amulet Vineyard, with the focus on delivering high quality fruit and that ‘the grapes and must reflect our site without much further 'working’.

They also have a new winery where all the operations after the harvest take place, including crushing, pressing, fermenting, racking and bottling. It is fully insulated and air-conditioned to protect the product from the harsh elements.
