About Cape Horn Vineyard

Cape Horn Vineyard, located on Stewarts Bridge Road, Echuca in Victoria, lies on a sand hill between the Murray and Goulburn Rivers and is named after the river bend that looks like the Cape Horn of South America. That is how it got its name. They specialise in producing high quality fruit with low yields which, in turn, ensure intense flavour and rich colour.

It was in the 1860s that vines were first planted, with Shiraz being the vine of choice to make wine for river boat trade. Cape Horn was a natural stopping place on the river between Echuca and Barmah and thus the vineyard we now know as Cape Horn was brought into being. The vineyard also became a popular destination for day trippers from Echuca in the 1900s.

The present owners, Sue and Ian Harrison, have refurbished the estate and planted the vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Durif, Marsanne, Shiraz and Zinfandel vines.

Visitors today can enjoy picnics and tastings at their Cellar Door. You can get there by road, which is just fifteen kilometres out of Echuca, or thirty minutes by speedboat. You can catch a horse and carriage, or sail up in a houseboat. You can even fly in!

They have facilities for a variety of functions including conferences, parties, weddings, barbecues and picnics. You can buy wine by the glass and cheese platters to enjoy by the river.

They have standard offer of 10% off, or free delivery to all Cellar Door customers when they buy a dozen bottles of wine.

Their 'Cape Horn Cellar Club' entitles their members to exclusive access to any special offers not available at the cellar door. They are also eligible for a 10% discount on any subsequent orders. Members receive updates of specials and any points of interest by newsletter.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Durif, Zinfandel and Shiraz are the varieties available at their Cellar Door.
