About Jingalla Wines
Jingalla Wines is a family partnership, located on Bolganup Road,
Porongurup, Western Australia. It is operated by Geoff and Nita Clarke and Barry and Shelley Coad, with further assistance from Gayle.
The vineyard was established in 1979, with their first vintage coming in 1983. They have been producing award winning wines ever since.
With an elevation of 450 metres above sea level, the estate is classified as a cool-climate vineyard. The soils are rich and deep, comprising of granite and loam. The ocean is just forty kilometres away and the vineyard is next to a National Park, which means that the air is fresh and clean.
Much hard work has gone into the development of Jingalla Wines in order to create such wonderful wines that have all the great characteristics and varietal subtleties of the Porongurup region. These wines include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Verdelho.
Jingalla Wines now produce around 4,000 cases of premium cool climate wine each year, with each vintage being made at their winery by Diane Miller and her team. Consultant winemaker, Bill Crappsley, oversees the operations and brings over thirty years of experience to the table.
The word, ‘Jingalla’ is an aboriginal name for a crescent, or a moon shape. For those at the vineyard it symbolises the spectacular views from the top vineyard, seen when the crescent moon shines down on it. It graces their labels on all of their wines.
The vineyard has a total of 9 hectares planted to vines: 2.4 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 hectares of Shiraz, 1.5 hectares of Semillon, 1.2 hectares of Rhine Riesling, 0.8 hectare of Geisenheim Riesling and 1 hectare of Verdelho.
With an average rainfall of 840mm, predominantly through the winter months, fresh rainwater dams must be used for irrigation during the growing season.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz and Verdelho are all available at their Cellar door.
