About Oranje Tractor Wine

You will find Oranje Tractor Wine on Link Road, Albany, Western Australia. They operate as Lincoln & Gomm Wines and are a part of the Great Southern Region.

They are fiercely independent as a winemaker and do not distribute their wines through chain liquor stores, but prefer to deal with customers on a ‘one-to-one basis.’ They also do not use any form of chemical intervention in the growing of their fruit and practice sustainable management in their viticultural operations.

Murray Gomm and Pamela Lincoln established the winery a decade ago, leaving behind them a well-situated life back in Perth. Both worked in health fields, but now the fields they work in are more to Nature’s liking.

Murray was actually from the Albany region and grew up on a dairy farm. He moved to Perth to study physical education, but spent most of his working life in health promotion.

He says he gets his ‘green thumb’ from his mother and his liking for hard work from his father, who still farms the property next door. Murray is the creative driving force of the vineyard; he even took the photograph which is used on their labels and was the developer of the oranje tractor logo.

Pamela is a nutritionalist, who spent some of her early years in Western Australia, but always had an interest in wine. In the early 1990s, she began an external oenology course at Charles Sturt University at Wagga Wagga and completed her wine science degree in 2000. She worked as an assistant winemaker in a few local wineries, then, in 2001, won a Churchill Fellowship to study organic grape and wine production in the USA and Europe. Then, in 2004, she became the National winner of the professional category of the Vin de Champagne award, with the prize being an educational tour of the Champagne region of France.

Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz are available at their Cellar Door.
