About Fish Tail Wines
Fish Tail Wines is located on Bertram Road, Caversham, in Perth’s famous Swan Valley, Western Australia. The seventeen-acre vineyard and Cellar Door is a family-owned-and-operated concern and lies just half-an-hour out of the capital city of Perth. It’s a fun place, where they take their work seriously, but have a lot of fun doing it. They love having visitors and will help you select the wines that you prefer, while you enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Fish is the word! All their wines are named after fish. Their signature wine is a rose called ‘Pink Salmon’, which won four Bronze Medals at the 2007 Swan Valley Wine Show.
Fish Tail Wines is a happy place to visit and a wonderfully relaxed way to taste some really great wines and have a barbecue. You can even bring your own food, but book ahead for this, as they like to set up the tables and chairs for you ahead of time. There is no BYO, of course, but visitors can sample any of the wines available to accompany their meal. They will even provide a complimentary cup of tea or coffee for the drivers. That’s nice!
John, Beverley, Michael and Amy Bond are the family who will welcome you as you come in to the vineyard and they will show you a great time and answer all your wine-related questions, willingly.
They are located on the corner of West Swan Road and Bertram road. The instructions are: ‘Just follow the "fishy" signs!’
The winemakers are Rob Marshall, Craig Newton and Michael Bond and they pool their considerable skills to make such varieties as Cabernet, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Verdelho.
There are two new releases of the new ‘fish,’ called ‘Triple Tail’; one is a Cabernet/Merlot/Shiraz blend and is very smooth! The other new ‘fish’ to “join the ‘school’” is called ‘Red Snapper, which is a Shiraz 2006. This also is proving to be very popular.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Verdelho are available at their Cellar Door.
